Management Manifesto

I was asked to write my management philosophy down for a class, thought I would share:

The purpose of any team is to solve a problem. In order to do so, the team must come to an agreement on how that problem is BEST solved. It is vital that the whole team be able to stand behind the solution and produce their best work with it. However, it is in the nature of educated minds to discuss, dispute and disagree. These are all good things.

In order to promote the best possible solutions, it is the the practice of our group to be democratic in discussion and exploration, yet concise and united in our decision. The voice of every team member shall be heard equally and fully in all matters that relate to the problem at hand. Based on reasonable discussion and the opinions presented, it is the role of the CEO to find a common ground and present that to the group for approval. When there is no clear majority, it is the role of the CEO and the team to move in a direction which best addresses the problem in a sustainable manor. If there is a stand off of opinions within the group, it is the role of the indifferent members to decide the appropriate direction. If no indifference can be found, it is the role of the CEO to choose a direction.

In conclusion, management shall be shared by all members of the team unless there is a matter which requires intervention. The CEO shall be responsible in communicating externally the decisions made by the group.
